Fire Prevention Week was established in 1911, it commemorates the Great Chicago Fire of 1871 in an attempt to get people to think about fire prevention instead of just fire fighting. Fire Prevention Week is October 5-11. Fire prevention week is a great time for community education, school, or church fire prevention programs.
