The first time I saw a plastic water bottle that was marketed as being biodegradable I thought, “Cool! \u00a0 Wait…what makes this start to degrade?\u00a0 What if this starts degrading when I’m drinking out of it…or in the heat of the dishwasher?\u00a0 What if my kids drink of out of this as it is falling apart, won’t they be digesting plastic and chemicals and what else?”<\/p>\n

Biodegradable plastic bottles and coffee mugs etc need a microbial environment to start biodegrading, like a landfill.<\/p>\n
