Well it all started at a fundraiser for the school that my kids attend.
There was a silent auction and out of guilt, I bid on every item that
did not have a bid, and a few that had really low bids. After all this was a fund raising event.
Then I came across a silent auction item that stated the value was “priceless”
It was for a short voice over job for an answering machine, with the voice being that of Common Man from K-Fan fame. The Common Man Program is a show on K-Fan hosted by Dan Cole. Cole is reported to be able to predict outcomes of sporting events very accurately in advance. Cole is with K-Fan, not ESPN, but some say he does have sports-related ESP.
I have many local clients in the Twin Cities of Minnesota that are bigger sports fans than I am. Also one of our in-house guys is a big sports fan and can’t get enough local sports info. So I figured he would get a kick out of this voice over for our www.imprintitems.com voicemail message.
Common Man’s producer Brandon “Tenna-B” Mileski sent me the audio clip. After much thought we decided that with 85% of our clients being from outside of Minnesota, it may be confusing to them to hear the voice of Common Man on our telephone answering system.
Ultimately the result of my silent auction investment is not on our voice mail, but we found it to be a fun story and great conversation. You can hear the voice over by clicking Listen Here
