Get to the head of the eco-friendly market by purchasing products made from rubberwood. You might be thinking, ‘rubberwood? well that doesn’t sound natural.’ Well indeed it is natural, rubber wood comes from the rubber tree which has been used for years to make many latex products. Unfortunately, after about 30 years the rubber tree runs dry and slows its production of latex sap. In the past, when these trees have stopped producing sap they would simply be chopped down and burned. Today however, we are finding new uses for this wood; rubberwood is just starting to be used in the making of quality furniture and wood products. The name ‘rubberwood’ might make one think that this wood is extremely flimsy, but it is actually extremely strong and durable. Rubberwood is also naturally resistant to bacteria and mold, which makes it perfect for many kitchen utensils!
