We would like to thank everyone who took action and helped kill SOPA / PIPA. We were proud to join the over 115,000 websites that blacked out or added a banner to raise awareness, including Wikipedia and Google. Piracy of copyrighted content is not something we want to see, but having a special interest spend HUNDREDS of millions in lobbying and campaign donations to try to buy new laws and regulations that will only hurt and hinder the internet as a whole is not something we are willing to sit by and watch happen.
If you want a primer on what SOPA / PIPA are and why they are bad Matt Cutts wrote an excellent blog with details.
Please remember that just because these bills died in their current form doesn’t mean they are dead forever. We need to remember that keeping our politicians in check is a year round job.
