Prescription drug abuse is a major problem. The Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) has come out with new guidelines for the proper disposing of prescription drugs to help prevent this. A great way for local drug awareness councils, community drug abuse organizations and other drug abuse programs to put this to use is with our custom printed pharmacy bag / prescription bag.
One of our past clients printed the following instructions our imprint prescription bags and is handing them out to local pharmacies.
GUIDELINES FOR PROPER
DISPOSAL OF
PRESCRIPTION DRUGSDo you have unused, unneeded, or expired (outdated) prescription drugs around the house? The Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) has issued new guidelines for disposing of these medicines.
The following guidelines are designed to reduce the diversion (transferring a controlled substance from a lawful to an unlawful source) of prescription drugs, while protecting the environment:•Take unused, unneeded, or outdated prescription drugs out of their original containers
•Mix the prescription drugs with an undesirable substance, like used coffee grounds or kitty litter, and put them in waterproof, plain containers, such as empty cans or sealable bags, making sure that the drugs are not diverted or accidentally ingested by children or pets
•Throw these containers in the trash or flush prescription drugs down the toilet only if the accompanying patient information instructs it is safe to do so.
