Epilepsy Awareness

November is National Epilepsy Awareness Month. However, in Canada, Epilepsy Awareness Month is in March. Epilepsy is a common chronic neurological disorder characterized by recurrent unprovoked seizures, as stated at Wikipedia. According to the Epilepsy Foundation, seizures are caused by a brief, sudden strong surge of electrical activity that affects part or all of the brain. Epilepsy is not always a life long disease. It can affect people only at certain stages of their life (childhood, etc.). The ribbon color for Epilepsy awareness is lavender. ImprintItems sells bulk quantities of these custom imprinted lavender awareness ribbon lapel pins for anyone who wants to promote Epilepsy Awareness. State, county, and city epilepsy foundations are great organizations, as well as hospitals and children’s clinics, to give these lapel pins out. It would also be a great fundraiser for anyone needing to have surgery due to this medical condition.

Other causes that use lavender as an awareness color include: all cancers (general cancer awareness), hypokalemic periodic paralysis, rett syndrome, Hodgkins lymphoma, foster care or foster parents, infantile spasms, and hysterectomies.
