Bandanna or Bandana?

So what is the correct way to spell it, bandanna or bandana?

According to the Marriam-Webster dictionary site bandanna is correct:

bandanna

Main Entry: ban·dan·na (bandanna)
Variant(s): ban·dana (bandana)
Function: noun
Date: 1741
a large often colorfully patterned handkerchief

But if you do a search on Google for “bandanna” it will suggest that you switch to “bandana” showing that “bandana” seems to be the more popular version on the web.

Starting with rolls of white cloth we print up to six colors including the background color with pigment dyes. The printed cloth is then cut and sewn into the finished product which is colorfast and soft-textured.

Pigment Printed bandanas work great as maps for parks, trails, cities, colleges and schools etc.

INNOVA Disc Golf Discs

As I mentioned yesterday, we offer generic Frisbee style flyers that are a great value if you are looking for a generic flying disc. However, if you are looking for top of the line disc to hand out at your next disc golf tournament we have you covered there as well by offering INNOVA brand discs for disc golf. We can get you their entire product line custom printed with your logo or advertising message. The discs can be imprinted with just your artwork or you can include the INNOVA logo in your design to show that you are handing out a quality disc and not just some cheap knock off.

For general promotional product use we recommend the the Roc (mid-range disc), Shark (mid-range disc, can also be used for putting), and Aviar (putter and short range shots) model discs. Frisbee® = Flyers = Flying Discs

Not sure what name to call them, Frisbee®, Flyers or Flying Discs? Neither are we, but we sell them! The story about how Frisbees got their name is fun. Basically a bunch of college students would throw around empty pie tins from the Frisbee Pie Company, and since the Frisbee name was stamped in the bottom of the tins the name stuck. Since we don’t want to pay Wham-O (the trademark holder for the Frisbee® brand name) the big bucks to sell a peice of plastic, we call them Flyers (or Flying discs if we are bored).

Duck, Duck, Grey Duck!

Everyone loves those little yellow bath friends known as rubber duckies. And why shouldn’t they? These little ducks are so cute and fun. Think about what a great promotional they would be and think about how many different products they can represent. These ducks especially have that ability: there are football ducks, cheerleader ducks, ducks with pearly white teeth, American ducks, baby ducks, safety ducks, policeman ducks… the possibilities are endless. Get keychain ducks that go out with your clients or target audience members wherever they go! There are so many ways that a rubber ducky could be used as a promotional item that I can’t even list them all.

Bottom line: ducks make good marketing giveaways with your logo on them. They’re great for gifts or trade shows.

Colorectal (Colon) Cancer

Colorectal cancer is the third most common cancer in both men and women. In 2007, over 150,000 cases of colon and rectal cancer will be diagnosed, and more than 52,000 people will die from the disease, accounting for about 10% of all cancer-related deaths. (Source: www.medscape.com)

There are obviously a lot of people dealing with colorectal cancer and they need to know that there are others out there that want them to win, to beat their cancer. Show your support for them with brown awareness pins. Brown is the awareness color of Colorectal cancer. #7: NOT the Kiss of Death

The concerns over BPA may be scary and may turn out to be blown out of proportion (we here at www.ImprintItems.com are staying out of the debate), but no matter your thoughts on BPA, we should all try to keep ourselves as informed as possible while making decisions.

Bottles marked with the #7 recycling symbol do not necessarily contain BPA, it simply means they are made of a plastic that falls into the “Other”‘ category.

Here is the breakdown of recyclable categories:

#1 = PETE —-> See our Poly Pure PETE Water Bottles

#2 = HDPE —-> See our Nalgene HDPE Water Bottles

#3 = PVC

#4 = LDPE

#5 = PP

#6 = PS

Anything else, by default, falls into category #7. While the plastic type Lexan / Polycarbonate (made with BPA) is classified as #7, it is only one of hundreds of plastic types that are classified as “Other – #7”

Many consumers see a #7 on the bottom of their water bottles and automatically assume that means the bottle contains BPA. While it could, if you are concerned you should check with the manufacturer to see what plastic they are using. Many water bottles containing BPA are currently being pulled from retail store shelves and Promotional Product Companies – such as www.ImprintItems.com – to be replaced with new bottles made out of Tritan plastic, which is BPA-free. (See our Nalgene Tritan Bottles and our CamelBak Tritan bottles)

Some water bottle manufacturers, like Camelbak, are choosing to leave off the #7 symbol on the bottom of their Tritan BPA-Free Bottles all together because of the wide-spread belief that #7 equals BPA. Other companies, such as Nalgene, may leave the #7 symbol on the bottom of their new Tritan Plastic BPA-Free Bottles even though they are BPA-free.

HDPE #2 Bike Bottles

We are now offering bike bottles (also know as squeeze or squirt bottles) in a 20 oz and 28 oz size. They are made from HDPE (high-density polyethylene) – Recycled Code 2, and are BPA Free. Another nice twist is that the 20 oz size is available with recycled plastic made from industrial regrind (FDA approved as safe for food contact).

Nalgene goes BPA Free

Nalgene will be offering all of their popular water bottles in BPA free versions made from Eastman Tritan copolyester. (Read more about our thoughts on BPA Free Water bottles HERE) This new plastic offers the same great qualities you have come to expect from Nalgene (durability, does not effect the taste of your drink, dishwasher safe) without the health concerns that have been raised about Bisphenol A (BPA).

We will be offering the Nalgene classic 32oz wide mouth bottle and Nalgene OTG bottles in the new BPA Free Tritan plastic this coming mouth with the other Nalgene styles following later this summer and fall as stock is available from Nalgene. You are welcome and encouraged to pre-order your Nalgene water bottles now to guarantee availability of the size, style and color bottle you are looking for. Nalgene expects these new bottles to be very hot sellers, so the first round of stock may not last long.
