Item #2261, 62, 65 Laguiole Champagne Saber, Wood Handle

Pop the top on a new campaign with these champagne sabers! In the Napoleonic era, victories were celebrated by decapitating bottles of bubbly with their swords. The ritual has evolved and is still used by some sommeliers to open bottles of champagne. It makes an interesting gift for modern day swashbucklers with a distinguishing feature. Unlike a regular saber, the blade is not sharp. The blunt stainless steel blade is 11 38" long and also features a brass bolster, rivets and an inlaid wood handles. The 2261 has a Olivewood handle, the 2262 has an Ebony handle, and 2265 has a Rosewood handle. Traditional Laguiole decor embosses the handle and bolster. They are for the trained sommelier. The beautiful two-piece slide-top box measures, 17 1/2" L x 3-3/4" W.
