Item #4820 Imperial Arrow

This beautiful award has been adapted from the Imperial Arrow Rug designed by Frank Lloyd Wright for the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo, Japan. Designed between 1912-1922. The Imperial Hotel put Frank Lloyd Wright on the map as a nascent global architect. The Hotel immediately became an important landmark when it survived the great Kanto earthquake the first day the hotel opened its doors in 1923. For decades, the Hotel served as an architectural icon for the city of Tokyo until it was demolished in 1968. Fortunately, the main entrance and the Hotel lobby were preserved and reconstructed at the Museum Meiji-mura, an open-air architectural museum and theme park near Nagoya in Aichi prefecture, Japan.

The entire property was richly embellished with murals, carvings, rugs, furniture, and other decorative items designed by Wright, making it one of his most ornate buildings. The "Imperial Arrow" rug that this design is based on, was given new life in the 1970s when the Taliesin Associated Architects renovated the Arizona Biltmore. The design was given an updated colorway for the desert property. No minimum. Each award is branded with the Frank Lloyd Wright Collection copyright, and a portion of the sale is being donated to the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation on behalf of your purchase to ensure the continuity of this spirit. A romance booklet about this award and your donation is included for your presentation. The two-toned gift box features blue and silver laminates highlighted by a square silver button on top. The telescoping lid covers all but the very bottom, exposing a silver band for a designer look and snug fit. The interior is lined with luxurious blue satin. Aesthetically pleasing and extremely sturdy, these boxes will surely be reused by their recipients. Positive comments guaranteed!
