BPA Free Water Bottle Options UPDATED

We have had several clients come to us in the last year looking for either a metal or plastic water bottle that was not made of Lexan (also called acrylic or polycarbonate) and was not the “squirt top” sports bottle. They had concerns over reports they had read about BPA (also known as Bisphenol-A) leaching from some #7 plastics, mainly Lexan (also know as polycarbonate). We are not scientists, and do not want to get involved in the debate while there is limited data available on the matter (we will let you make up your own mind on the subject) but, we did want to meet the needs of these clients to the best of our ability.

Right now there are two options available, stainless steel bottles and plastics that do not contain BPA. Aluminum bottles are also a great alternative to plastic, but are coated on the inside to protect the taste of the water with the same epoxy that is used in canned foods, and most people that are concerned with BPA don’t like the idea of the epoxy coating either.

UPDATE:
We now offer 3 more options for BPA Free bottles. Poly Pure PETE (the same plastic that is used in bottled water) and both Camelbak and Nalgene bottles made from Tritan copolyester (a hard, durable plastic that is BPA Free with the same positive qualities of Lexan). Old school to the rescue. The first water bottle that pushed the screw top / loop top water bottle into common use happens to be made of HDPE (which does not contain BPA). That bottle is the original Nalgene HDPE bottle. It is available in 12oz, 16oz, 32oz, and 48oz sizes, screw and loop caps and with both a wide and narrow mouth openings.

Another BPA free water bottle option that is popular is stainless steel. We currently offer a 25 oz Stainless Steel Water Bottle with a wide mouth twist top spout that allows you to add ice and still be able to drink form it without a making a mess. It is made with all FDA Compliant Materials and is great for schools, outdoors, sports, fitness, biking and gifts.

We will be adding some more stainless steel options in the next few months.

Nalgene Water Bottles Imprinted

Nalg Nunc, Nalg Nunc, Nalgene, these popular water bottles were a bit of a fluke. The plastic water bottles were originally intended for science labs and chemistry classrooms.

They have since become the rage, probably because college and university students liberated them and began using them for hiking and climbing water bottles.

Though they are proclaimed to be unbreakable, this is not entirely true. Take a look on YouTube and you will find videos of people with too much time on their hands going to great lengths trying -and sometimes succeeding- to break them. This often involves freezing the bottles and dropping them from buildings, or exposing the Nalgene bottles to dry ice and hitting them with a hammer…or in the example below, involving explosives!

*Note: Don’t try this at home – or anywhere! This is very dangerous…and not super smart either. Imprintitems.com does not promote breaking or trying to break, smash, run over, freeze, or explode your nalgene. We actually love Nalgenes!

These bottles are solid. One should note, you can break a pad lock after exposing it to dry ice and smashing with a sledge.

Nalgene bottles can be broken, if you put a lot of time and effort into it; however, this rage item is one of the more solid on the market.

They are popular with outdoors groups and climbers. They are very resilient.

These Nalgene water bottles are great! They are tough and durable yet they still look nice. If you need a good water bottle check these out.

Want bright colors? Go black!

I had a client ask me what color to use for the background of their kiss-cut word magnets. Knowing they wanted to use bright colors and really have the item “pop” I told them to use black. They were a little surprised, but went with my suggestion, and they loved the items. Here is what they came up with for their magnets. They used our stock template for our 16 Motivational Words Magnet with Business Card magnet customized with the words of their choice. They looked great as a finished product.
